A debate that went beyond 'the normal bullshit'
Getting beyond the rhetoric is always a challenge. But an exciting group of speakers set about the task of broadening our understanding of social enterprise, at a debate on Social Entrepreneurship: The Future, hosted by the Goldsmiths Social Entrepreneurship Society.
Pioneers Post TV went along to the event to capture the ideas of the panel, chaired by Pioneers Post editor Tim West. Sally Reynolds, co-founder and former CEO of Social Firms UK, kicked off the debate with her vision for the future of social entrepreneurship, where it would emerge from its current niche and become mainstream practice.
Liam Black, the co-founder of Wavelength Companies and former CEO of Fifteen, reminded the UK that its social enterprise scene is just one manifestation of a much bigger picture.
And Nigel Kershaw, chief executive of Big Issue Invest, had the last word, and a strong one at that, to shift the focus of social entrepreneurs, private companies and everyone in between, to disrupting the structure of things to make the biggest impact.
