World TB Day: Do giant rats have the answer?
They say you’re never more than six feet away from a rat. And the human race is not happy about it. Since the Black Death, through Room 101 to the Daily Mail’s mutant killer rats (deport them now!), these resilient rodents have had a bad press for centuries.
One man out to address the rats’ image problem is Bart Weetjens. First, he trained giant African rats to sniff out landmines – now, they are helping stop the spread of TB. You’ll never look at a rat in the same way again.
