50,000 loans to impact a million lives – Hardika Shah aims high
Under the hot, Mexican sun at the Opportunity Collaboration gathering Pioneers Post's founding editor Tim West caught up with Hardika Shah, CEO and founder of Kinara Capital.
Kinara Capital is on a mission to pioneer access to capital for micro and small enterprises in India. There are approximately 26 million small businesses in India but only 5% have access to commercial capital – making it extremely difficult for them to develop and grow.
Having studied at the University of California and Columbia Business School and then having worked for 20 years as a management consultant in the corporate sector, Hardika wants to use her experience and knowledge to change the system and through Kinara Capital eventually make 50,000 loans to impact a million lives. She talks to Tim West about the risks involved in this professional change and about the lessons she has learnt so far.
