Kiran Bir Sethi is the Founder/Director of The Riverside School in Ahmedabad, India. After seeing the education her son was receiving, she pioneered a new approach. Riverside School has adopted the both/and approach. In other words, not only must students care about quadratic equations, biological and chemical processes, and poetry, but also about democracy, child abuse, human rights and other problems in their community. She is also the founder of ‘aProCh’ - an initiative to make our cities more child friendly, for which she was awarded the Ashoka Fellow in 2008.
