Richard Hawkes is the Chief Executive of the British Asian Trust, the main international organisation linking the South Asian Diaspora in the UK to programmes fighting poverty and disadvantage across South Asia. Previous roles include Chief Executive of Scope, International Programmes Director for VSO and Chief Executive of Sense International. He has also worked for the UN and is a former National Secretary of the National Union of Students. He has held a number of sector roles including being Chair of BOND, the umbrella body for UK international NGOs, and Chair of the Care and Support Alliance. He has been a member of the BBC Appeals Advisory Committee, a trustee of the sector skills council for the voluntary sector and is currently Chair of Motivation, the international disability charity.
