Rommel currently serves as a product director for VisionFund International – a network of 36 microfinance institutions globally. In his role, Rommel provides direction, analysis and advise to both MFI’s and VFI in order to maximise the impact of products and services on the lives of children and to improve product risk management. Prior to this assignment, he provided leadership to 9 MFIs in Asia in his capacity as VFI Regional Director.
Prior to joining VisionFund, Rommel worked as a sectoral program manager for World Vision Cambodia. He also pioneered the establishment and scale up of VisionFund Cambodia – now one of the largest and most successful MFIs in the VFI network.
Rommel is a social entrepreneur working in economic development and microfinance sectors for over 20 years. He has extensive experience in the areas of setting up and leading organizations, corporate governance, strategy development and execution, product and services development, and various program innovations towards poverty alleviation.
Prior to joining World Vision, he worked with a number of Non-Government Organizations and consultancy firms engaged in sectors such as enterprise development & microfinance, environmental conservation, housing, research and policy advocacy, emergency relief and rehabilitation, peace and justice, Maternal and Child health, HIV-AIDS.
